Sıfat Cümleciklerinde Edat Kullanımı - Use of prepositions in relative clauses

Sıfat cümleciklerinde edatları “whom” ve “which”te cümleciğin sonunda kullanabildiğimiz gibi “which/who/whom”um önünde de kullanabiliyoruz. Akademik veya diğer resmi yazışmalarda edatın cümle sonunda kullanılması uygun olmaz. O yüzden bu şekilde kullanım tercih edilir.

• Garsonlarımızdan birinin bağırdığı müşteriyi memnun etmek için elimizden geleni yaptık.

- We did our bests to please the customer at whom one of our waiters shouted.

- We did our bests to please the customer whom one of our waiters shouted at.

• Size tanıdık gelen bir organizasyonu seçin.

- Select an organization with which you are familiar.

- Select an organization which you are familiar with.

 

The subject matter with which they concern themselves represents such an inexhaustible source that they are analysing it from various different angles. (İlgilendikleri mevzu öyle bitmek tükenmek bilmeyen bir kaynağı temsil ediyor ki birçok farklı açıdan inceliyorlar.)

There are three contingencies against which they insure; death, sickness and unemployment. (Sigorta yaptıkları üç tane beklenmedik durum var;ölüm, hastalık ve işsizlik.)

You had better set up a repayment plan with each person from whom you borrow. (Ödünç para aldığın her bir kişi için bir geri ödeme planı kursan iyi olur.)

Ours is a society to which many important people belong. (Bizimki, birçok önemli insanın ait olduğu bir toplum.)

The tree under which they took a rest was the largest and oldest in the jungle. (Altında dinlendikleri ağaç ormandakilerin en büyük ve en yaşlısıydı.)

My dad restored the house in which I grew up. (Babam büyüdüğüm evi onardı.)

The banker to whom I gave the check thought it was fake. (Çeki verdiğim bankacı, sahte sandı.)

Koray is the boy with whom Ekinsu fell in love. (Koray, Ekinsu’nun aşık olduğu çocuk.)

There are very few things of which she is afraid. (Korktuğu birkaç şey var.)

The bus by which I went to Balıkesir was not comfortable. (Balıkesir’e gittiğim otobüs rahat değildi.)

The girl with whom I argued was the daughter of the boss. (Tartıştığım kız patronun kızıydı.)

Was it this concert in which you were interested? (İlgilendiğin konser bu muydu?)

It is said that Britain was the Empire on which the sun never sets. (İngiltere’nin güneşin asla batmadığı imparatorluk olduğu söylenir.)
