Ielts Speaking sample question and answer 3 - The internet

Some people say that the Internet provides people with a lot of valuable information. Others think access to so much information creates problems. Which view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
As a person using internet for almost ten hours a day, I can say that the internet is a magnificent source of information. There are so many different sources from all over the world to gain knowledge. However, at the same time I do strongly believe that it’s an information trash, too. Actually if one doesn’t know how to use it, he might get lost in a huge heap of useless and worthless or worst of all misleading information.
To give an example, a person can get unbelievably worthy information about a type of plant, let’s suppose the information hasn’t been in any of the related books, it's a really valuable information; however some other person can get wrong information about a symptom and attribute it to a wrong disease which may cause serious problems, unfortunately.
The richness of internet comes from its publicity, that is, everyone can share or write things and anyone can look for and read them, in other words there isn’t any control over the users and the content. That doesn’t mean I support the idea that there should be a control over it. What I want to say is different. I think people should be educated so that they can pick only valuable information and realize that everything we read on the internet may not be true.
In conclusion, all I want to say is that, along with being such a huge valuable information source, internet can be a waste of time and moreover it may be dangerous. To able to get people to use it in a useful way, they should be educated.
