MODEST vs HUMBLE

The word "humble" describes seeing yourself as inferior all the time.

Humble: (adj.) not proud or not believing that you are important (Cambridge)

  • I felt very humble when I met her. I even couldn’t tell my name.

  • She has been making quite successful organizations however she is always very humble about them.

The word "modest" refers to not talking a lot about your achievements.

Modest: (adj.) a modest person does not like to talk about themselves, their achievements, or their abilities, even if they are successful (Macmillan)

  • He may be a great and successful businessman but he is always modest.

  • My sister was very modest about her achievement in this project. She never wanted to talk about it.
